This specimen is a nice large chunk and has been smoothly tumbled and features a polished face. Peanut Wood is a variety of Petrified Wood that formed during the Cretaceous period when driftwood eaten by 'shipworm' larvae, a type of marine clam. The 'shipworm' larvae would attach themselves to the driftwood, shaving off small boreholes using
