The subject is a Baccante with characteristic ivy leaves worn in the hair (also confirmed by an inscription on the back of the cameo)
during which time most of the historic building along with nearly 1000 years of records - was destroyed as a result of bombardment by the National Army
Crafted in 18 karat yellow gold with platinum settings and an openworked gallery to allow light in behind the stones
somewhat unusually the two sapphires are larger than the central diamond

It's modelled in 9 karat gold throughout with alternating hand chased links and a heart shaped padlock clasp. Particularly fine craftsmanship and an ever so slightly rosey hue to the yellow gold, with padlock and each individual link stamped 9ct.
